Though, with the virus attacking her she'd been terrified to leave Ahon, and the safety that Admiral brought, so she'd fond a hide away in the land a small number of days ago where she curled up, fighting back the pain of a headache, now mirrored with the pain of the contractions as the foal fought to enter the world. Her body quivered, her back arching faintly, her eyes squeezed shut as she felt another contraction - another desperate ploy of her body to rid herself of the foal. A foal she'd been trying to get out since the contractions had started earlier that morning. It was well into the afternoon now, and she was almost done she was certain. Her thoughts proved to be true as she broke free of the headache with one final push, the foal sliding to the grass, and laying still. Her heart thudded to a near stop in her chest, before instinct took over as she cleaned off the little grulla foal, noting the minimal reverse brindling, much like her own coat. Dear god, don't let it be dead. As she cleaned the foal - which she noted was a colt, tears sprang to her eyes - again. Fuck this crying shit. Her breath wobbled in her chest as the foal took a huge breath, and instantly she crushed the thing to her side, relief flooding towards her center until she saw the way he'd jumped at her touch. She paused then, turning to look at the foal and her blood ran cold at the seeing his clouded green eyes. Her breath stopped, and her world died a little. No, no impossible. No! What have i done . . .. She struggled to her feet, watching the foal's ears flick towards her, before she helped him up as well, using her muzzle to push his legs up, guide him into how he needed to stand. "Oh, hijo . . . my sweet hijo. What have I done?" She whispered, before watching the foal take a staggering step to her, closer and pressing into her side, before instinct had his head dipping under her body. She squeaked, jumping as he started to suckle, before relaxing faintly and looking at him, his small fluff of a tail flicking back and forth, her heart heavy. "Hijito." She said softly, gaining the colt's attention as he pulled away, milk on his tiny whiskers, as he hastily tried to lap it up. A smile fell on her face, though a broken one, "Come, Hijo. Let's find your father . . ." She said, using her muzzle to guide him closer to her side, showing him how to stick close so he could follow her easily. She helped him walk, noticing how he stumbled about a bit before getting more comfortable, his ears swivelling as he learned to pay attention to guide his steps. Her son, her dearest, first born son . . . Blind. What was Admiral going to think. She had failed him, him and their son. It was all her fault! "Come, hijo." She whispered again before this time sending out a heart wrenching whinny for the stallion, needing him hear now, with her. Her heart was breaking. Over the past few weeks, she'd cried so much, been so dependent on Admiral (which scared her as she couldn't fathom why) but at least her constant head aches were dimming, not as controlling and trouble some. They felt so much better it was true. She looked around, a shattered breath leaving her, crying out for the stallion, "ADMIRAL!" Her gaze turned apologetic as her son startled and stumbled into her, and she quickly steadied him, whispering apologies and holding him close. What had she done.

Admiral moved as fast as his feet could carry him. She was yelling for him, yelling in terror. What was wrong? What had happened? He was almost in tears, internally he was cursing up a storm at his stupid virus personality. Perhaps he was just plain scared and this wasn’t the virus. Either way he was flying towards Tango. It was bad enough she wasn’t his anymore. He frowned as he thought about how the stallion had stole her right out from underneath him. He hadn’t even paid attention. He just wanted to give up and go crawl in a hole somewhere. Finally he saw Tango in front of him and slid to a stop, his eyes falling on the foal. Something was wrong, and he couldn’t place it. He walked forward timidly, keeping his eyes on the foal. When he was closer, his eyes widened as he saw what was wrong, taking in the foals cloudy eyes. He stopped in his tracks and looked at Tango, seeing the distress and terror in her eyes. Oh, what were they going to do? He knew one thing though, even through his clouded mind. ”Tango, please, don’t blame yourself… These things happen. You did nothing wrong, my sweet Tango…”

Blind, he was blind. How was he going to survive as a blind horse! She had to find Admiral, she had to see him, she needed him now! Perhaps it was just the virus making her way more dependent then usual, but regardless - she needed him. A whimper left her muzzle as she called for him again, desperately so, before nuzzling her foal in apology he'd flinched, "Shh, honey, it's okay." She froze then, seeing the black stallion, looking up at him with wide, tear filled green eyes He walked forward, his eyes on her their son, before pausing, noticing it, noticing with wide eyes what was wrong. Tears filled up in her eyes as he met her gaze, her body shaking slightly, "Addy . . ." He spoke then though, speaking towards her, Tango, please, don't blame yourself... These things happen. You did nothing wrong, my sweet Tango.. She shivered then, looking at him, before rushing towards him and pressing her face into his neck, their son trailing behind uncertainly, "I can't do this, Addy! I can't! What am I supposed to do! Our son is blind! How do I handle this! Why can't I stay with you! We could figure it out together! Addy, I'm so scared!" A weak whinny came from Capitán then, and she turned looking down at her foal and tugging him close, trying to put on a brave face and lipped his muzzle before looking up at Admiral, "Capitán, hijo, this is your papa." She told her son as Capitán moved forward briefly, reaching out with his muzzle till it touched Admiral's chest, then pressing his forehead against his father's pelt, "Addy . . . . your son, Capitán." She paused, then shook her head, looking up, "No . . . our son." She corrected, looking up at him, begging for him to help to promise her she can to do this. To be there for her as she's learned to trust him to be, "Addy . . . . promise me . . . please. Promise me you'll come for us. You won't just let Indra keep us. I want to be able to come home and stay . . . Please. Promise me. You won't leave us there. Promise me you'll come."

Admiral shook his head as tears welled in his eyes, trying to clear his virus fogged mind. The desperation in her voice hit him right in the heart and it tore him up inside. He could do absolutely nothing right now. Nothing at all to save her and his… their son. He smelled Capitan, nuzzling his side. His son.. his heir. Blind.. How could this happen to them? Why? What had he done to deserve this? Hadn’t he been punished enough in life already? He didn’t even know what he could possibly do to win her back, to take her away from this horrid Indra. His whole body shook in frustration, so unsure of what to do. He only knew he had to comfort her, he couldn’t let her leave without some form of comfort… ”Shhh, Tango, shh. I won’t leave you there, I promise… Some way, some how. I will come for you, my… my queen.” Even through his foggy mind, he knew his last words to her were completely true.

How could she even begin to comfort him, when she was in such a bad spot. She quivered slightly, desperation heavy in her voice, before he looked down at their son, nuzzling him close. She couldn't fight the faint smile on her face, seeing the way he handled his son. Capitán looked up at his father through blind eyes, a smile on his face, tail wagging fiercely at the attention. He had no issues with his lack of sight. He was blind from birth, he didn't know color, or what his mother looked like. Nothing. All he knew was that he was smelling his father, being held by his father. His ears were erect with happiness, as his foal voice squeaked out, copying his mother's previous spanish whispering, "P-papá!" The colt declared, tail wagging all the fiercer. Tango couldn't help the slight smile at seeing father and son, even as she felt her heart breaking. Her son would never seen the love in her face, or the tenderness of his father's expression. He'd never see anything. Tango glanced up at Admiral, seeing his body shake slightly and she moved closer to him, nuzzling him softly as he spoke comfortingly to her, Shhh, Tango, shhh. I won't leave you there, I promise... Some way, some how. She couldn't deny her trust in him, and as she looked up, she believed his words. He'd do as he said. I will come for you, my... my queen. That time she froze, eyes wide and startled, pulling back out of shock. His . . . his what? His . . "Your . . . your what? Addy? Are you . . . Are you sure? Your . . . Your queen. |
" Her voice was quiet, hushed with shock before a tiny smile appeared on the fiery spanish maid's muzzle, " Your queen . . . I . . . I'd like that, I think. To be your queen." She glanced down at their son, a faint smile on her face, no longer as scared, as worried. Her king would come for her, they'd be able to raise their son easily. They'd be okay. Everything would be okay. A small frown lingered on Admiral’s lips as he watched the emotions play across Tango’s face. He hoped he hadn’t overstepped, that he hadn’t gone too far and had chased her off. He knew how she worked, she hadn’t want to come back with him to his herd to begin with and she was quite creeped out by the fact he had been watching her for so long. But slowly, he watched acceptance creep into her eyes and a his lips turned up in a smile. Your queen… I… I’d like that, I think. To be your queen. Admiral grinned and nuzzled her, then nuzzled their son, noticing that, despite his blindness, he was a very good looking foal. Having been born blind, perhaps he would still make a good heir. Admiral knew of other blind horses who lived on their own quite well. He looked at his queen and at his son, then sighed. ”You should be going… Indra will come looking for you soon… Just behave and don’t get yourself into trouble, I’ll come for you when I can.”

And so to say she was shocked, startled, confused, and speechless was an understatement. She glanced up, slowly accepting the term slowly, and seeing his frown turn into a smile, as she admitted she'd like it, to be his queen, and suddenly the stallion was grinning her, then nuzzling her, in which she responded by leaning her tiara against his neck softly, hiding a delighted smile. She pulled back as she watched the father nuzzle his son, and Tango smiled slightly, "He's a remarkable boy, Admiral . . . Already learning to adjust with out sight . . ." She said quietly, her son's ears flicking at her voice, turning towards his mother. Her head turned back towards Admiral when he sighed, her smile falling at his words, You should be going... Indra will come looking for you soon... Just behave and don't get yourself into trouble, I'll come for you when I can. She managed a sad smile, "Me? Trouble? Isn't my middle name trouble? |

I just know I will." She said, managing a smile over her shoulder as the colt squeaked beside her, " ¡Adios, papá!"
